Finding the Right Type of Security Guard Service

Security Challenges

For starters, make a list of the security challenges you face. For instance, you could list items like “guards to walk people to their cars at night in the dark,” “someone to watch the front door during business hours,” and/or “worried about vandalism overnights.”

Organizational Challenges

Next, come up with your budget. How much can you afford to spend on security services at this time?

Also, what’s the size and scope of your business, organization, building or event? For instance, if it’s small, it might need one guard, but if it’s big, it might need dozens.

Finding the Right Fits

There are different guards for different reasons– some work overseeing retail establishments, some serve as “store detectives,” some are mobile guards who patrol grounds such as parking lots or neighborhoods with HOAs… Certain guards may work at reception desks. Others might work in warehouses, controlling access to certain locations and/or making sure only authorized people enter/exit the building. The more specific you can be about who you’re looking for and what you need them to do, the better chances you’ll find the right security guard service(s) to meet your needs.

Some guards specifically guard people while others guard items, such as artwork, jewelry or cash. Some guards monitor surveillance cameras while others walk around the premises and interact with all sorts of people. Some guards are in charge of keeping certain people away from celebrities or high-profile people.

Armed Vs Unarmed Guards

Here’s a good question: for what you need, should the guard be unarmed or armed? For some reasons, you might want to hire guards who carry weapons such as tasers, mace or guns.

When looking for “the right” service, you’ll want to make sure you’re working with a company that can handle your specific needs. Ask appropriate questions to ensure your needs would be met.
